Welcome to my new blog, which is mostly the same as my old blog, but in a new location and with a new purpose.

Building Things

Catsync and I have always had ideas and projects in the works, but haven’t had time to pursue them in earnest.

We’ve made some changes to make it easier to work on these things.

We’re calling our efforts Cooperative Shenanigans — working together to create playful fun.

Blog 3.0?

I’ve launched blogs before, but I get busy, or I feel like I don’t have much to say, so I don’t post very often.

Then I’ll remember to post and feel guilty, so I’ll feel forced to put something up, and it’ll be kind of a “here’s what I did over the summer” report. Ugh.

So how will it be different this time?

Good question.

The plan is to blog as we build things — to write about what we’re doing and learning but in a way that’s more about sharing the experience and less about padding my post count.

Trying Out New Things — Gatsby

This blog is one of the first newly built things — built using React and Gatsby (plus HTML, CSS, JS, of course). I took one of the Gatsby starters (Gatsby’s blog starter now with 100% more MDX) and added a navigation bar and some more pages (see nav bar). It’s not done yet, and I’m picky, so I’ll probably be playing with the theme for a while.

A not-quite-fresh start

I’ve moved some of the posts, like the reviews and the fiction, from my previous blog, but cut out the book-report styled ones.

I’ll shut down the older blog once I’ve transferred all the content I want over to here.

What’s next?

Some finishing touches to the blog (a few more non-blog-post pages) and then some work on tools to make game design easier. Once we have a prototype up and ready we’ll be looking for some folks to help us beta test the new tools.
